Vivekan and Jess Root of Bodhisattva Yoga explain happiness as, “living our highest potential-even if that highest potential remains a distant goal to work toward.”

I tried a Basics Flow class at Bodhisattva Yoga in Brooklyn. It was a nice boutique-style studio, very clean, and allowed for up to only 11 people at a time…Vivekan was a great hands-on instructor, giving us personal attention and correcting/adjusting our postures to make sure we could receive the most benefits out of each movement. Each time Vivekan adjusted my body, I could feel a deeper stretch, while also reaching a point of better relaxation. There are no mirrors at this studio, which…I found reduces the competition in the room. Everyone seemed to be focused on their own practice time…

Benefits: Nice boutique. Teaches correct postures to reduce and prevent injuries.

Held in a Brooklyn brownstone (the practice room features a fireplace and ornate crown molding—a beautiful focal point during relaxation), the classes here are intimate, with a lot of personal attention.

Summer Edition

Original fireplaces were lit when I entered the immaculate brownstone-located studio…The small class size also allowed for plenty of personal attention…The class atmosphere was not intimidating…The savasana, the final relaxation pose, was almost spa-like, as Bodhisattva offers eye pillows.
